Monologues of n Women
is a new devised theatre work based in Seattle, WA.
Directed by Christie Zhao, seven Mandarin-speaking devisers from all over the world came together to create stories that expose the dark underbelly of women's experiences in modern-day society.
Through movement, music, projection, and interviews, they express the anger, sadness, and resistance against gender violence and the Chinese government's control.
My Contributions
Originally, I joined the show as one of the devisers. Every Sunday, we would get on Zoom to workshop one of the eight stories together.
As time went on and we began to solidify the script, places were marked where music would enhance the storytelling experience. Thus, I composed, produced, and mixed thirty pieces for the soundtrack of Monologues of n Women. In places where lyrics or singing were added, I recorded my own voice as the sole singer on the soundtrack.
The soundtrack to Monologues of n Women is out now on all streaming services and Bandcamp!
